We live in a world where many of us are much more concerned with likes, comments and shares. Likes or comments from people we may never meet or from those who we have no common interests with. We compare ourselves to the next picture, video or message, focusing on what OTHERS are doing, instead of what God has blessed us with.
Let me repeat that, what God has blessed us with.
We tend to count the number of interactions we may get on a post, text or picture….what if we counted the number of people we helped each day…the number of people we thanked….the number of people we brought joy OR the number of times we said Praise God. How many times were we thankful today for HIM.
I get it. It’s dang tough. It’s our culture today and it seems quite normal to do this. What can happen as I have experienced in my younger years, is that you end up chasing someone else’s dreams. You end up trying to follow in someone else’s footsteps or living someone else’s life. But, when I came to Christ and the more I have grown in Him, the more I have realized he has a walk created for me and I am grateful and blessed for that.
Each day I understand my eyes get clearer and my heart grows deeper. Deeper for love, faith and understanding. It’s hard being different. But, what I CAN tell you is that it’s worth it.
God doesn’t want us to be jealous, he wants us to be grateful.
He doesn’t want us to be selfish, he wants us to be sacrificial.
He doesn’t want us to envy, he wants us to love and be joyous.
Do you feel more joyous after making a cool Facebook or Instagram post of yourself or after calling someone you care about and telling them how thankful you are for them? #thinkaboutit
We have lost HIS way of communication and human interaction. I believe it’s because many of us are afraid.
Afraid to show real emotion.
Afraid to have REAL conversations.
Afraid to be ourselves.
There were no cell phones, computers or social media when Christ walked, at least not to my knowledge. Imagine if there was some big lawsuit and all of social media and cell phones disappeared tomorrow.
Could you communicate?
Could you be healthy?
Could you live?
As one of my friends would say, it’s a major #gutcheck
I am challenging you today to be more like Christ, learn to be human. Learn to NOT be afraid. Learn to love, sacrifice and be humble.
Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Do not be afraid to be YOU folks. Show what HE has made YOU. Fight for HIS love by being YOU.
Being a Christian isn’t just about reading HIS word and going to church. It’s about the vine. What are you doing to SHOW HIM that you are thankful for HIM? His love? His forgiveness?
He saved my current life and eternal life. I am forever grateful for that. I am blessed from what the vine continues to gift me and I am sharing the fruit I have received with others to glorify HIM. Simple as that. He gave HIS life for us.
Whom are you sacrificing for today?
