I share my story and explain exactly how fitness guided me to recovery. Doing push-ups will not guarantee a sober life, but research has proven the happiness and fulfillment that comes from exercise-induced endorphins can help combat addiction. That’s not all: Exercise increases self-esteem, self-confidence and mental clarity… all of which are needed on the road to recovery. This presentation is a favorite amongst the recovery community as it is designed to show others recovery is possible and instill habits to get them there… all from someone who can relate to exactly what they are experiencing.

"Doug’s passion and drive are infectious, which was why he was such a great addition to the team here at Maryland Addiction Recovery Center."
Thomas J. New
"Many of the team members have known Doug for years as a great guy and a top notch trainer. When we decided to implement team workouts as part of our wellness program, we reached out to Doug for assistance in putting it all together. Almost 12 months later, our employees are as excited now as they were when we rolled it out. Four mornings per week, Doug leads us thru a team boot camp in which all employees are invited to attend. The participation has been phenomenal. Doug mixes up the workouts each day so they are always fun, challenging and never boring. It has absolutely strengthened the culture at Verdence Capital while deepening the relationships we share with team members. Doug has been a big part of that."
Frank Kelly III
"Doug shared his powerful story with our Calvert Hall FCA Huddle and you could hear a pin drop. He was humble, honest, compelling and his message of pain, failure and redemption really hit home with everyone in attendance."
Heidi A. McNeeley, President
"The Worcester County Warriors Against Opiate Addiction is a grassroots, 501c3 organization, that was formed to address the opiate epidemic that is killing our community. We hold monthly meetings to introduce our community to resources available as well as to spotlight stories of hope. This summer Doug Bopst offered us both. Doug gave his stirring testimony to a room full of parents, siblings, grandparents, teachers, people in recovery and people in active addiction. He described the way he has been able to pull himself out of addiction through physical fitness and through his relationship to God. Doug spoke in a down to earth manner, making it easy for each person to completely relate to what he had to say. It was so important for the crowd to hear that recovery is possible and it was so important to hear that each person struggling with addiction must find his/her recovery on his/her own unique path. We were extraordinarily grateful to Doug for sharing his story and look forward to seeing and hearing from him again."
